This is a mixed workshop

Too often the approach to anxiety and debilitating fear are approached as disorders in need of fixing. 

But what if I told you that anxiety and fear are normal responses to our body responding to real or perceived threats? 

Anxiety, fear, and worry are manifested as increased activation in our nervous system. A rise in energy that is often accompanied with compulsive thoughts. A need to do something, fix something, get rid of it. Which then transpires into behavioural patterns, such as running away from difficult conversation, being afraid of intimacy and connection, difficulty making decisions, and much more. 

All this simply indicates that our system is sensing threat and attempting to secure safety through the protective strategies it knows best. 

This is why a somatic doesn't try to get rid of anxiety by way of pushing against it, instead it focuses on helping our nervous system develop inner safety. From there our body begins to unfurl from a state of contraction into one of expansion.

This workshop is here to help you understand the link between your nervous system and the state of anxiety and fear, and learn how to use somatic and self-inquiry tools to move through the experience without losing yourself to it. To meet your symptoms and challenges as genuine efforts from your body to guide you home. To meet yourself with the knowing that you are not broken, that you do not need fixing.

About Zeena:

Zeena is a somatic therapist, trauma educator, and a dedicated student of the body. She is trained in various psycho-somatic modalities including Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry, Somatic Coaching, and on path with Somatic Experiencing. 

Zeena teaches you how to find safety within yourself by way of befriending your body and nervous system. In that you begin unwinding from long held traumas and beliefs, meet life with greater capacity, and gain access to more choice, pleasure, and harmony in how you experience yourself, others, and the world around you..

Her key principles are three: The body is never broken, healing is an on-going relationship with oneself, and liberation comes with taking responsibility over our own experience. Her promise is one of teaching you the tools to navigate your own experience with the kind of self-trust that knows you are your own best medicine.
